Visitor visas have the highest refusal rates of any U.S. visa category. Officers see hundreds of B2 applications a day, and every applicant looks like a potential overstay until proven otherwise. If you're retired, have family in the U.S., or can't explain what brings you back to India, you're in the high-risk pile.
I built my STAMP Method around the five things every officer evaluates. Story: why are you visiting. Ties: what brings you back. Answers: can you say it in 15 seconds. Money: who's paying. Papers: does every document match your story. For B2 visitors, ties win the interview.

Having family in the U.S. is a risk factor, not an asset. Officers worry you'll stay. You need strong ties back home.
"I'm retired, I don't have a job to show"
Retirement makes ties harder to prove, not easier. Property, pension, family who needs you home, that's your return story.
"My child is paying for everything"
Self-funded is easier. When someone else pays, the officer wonders if you'll become dependent on them once you land.

Common pitfalls
That's a reason to go, not a reason to come back. Officers need to hear what pulls you home.

Full financial dependence on the U.S.-based sponsor makes officers wonder if you'll become a public charge.
